 | Bethel studied Civil and Environmental Engineering with a minor in Human Rights at Stanford University. Bethel is interested in the intersection between water access, energy access, global environmental justice and sustainable development. Learning about the impacts of water access and sanitation has expanded her interest in maternal and child health. “I have seen a lot of projects, in my own sector of study and beyond, that lack a strategic plan to ensure longevity. Projects such as this one are crucial, as they not only aim to center community needs in Ethiopia, but also are intended to outlast the efforts of a single group.
